Provision is made for the cost of spare parts for generators and air conditioners ( 175,500).

Provision is made in the amount of 9,800 for the purchase of an additional 15 water purification filters at 300 each ( 4,500) and 132 additional filter elements at 40 each ( 5,300).

Procurement foreign military sales (FMS)

The Procurement Division procured a total of 309 million in 1997, or 11 per cent of total United Nations system procurement.

Provision is made for communications equipment, spare parts and supplies, such as spare modems, modules, duplexes to maintain UHF repeaters and transceivers, cables, batteries and switchboard spares, based on the rate of 12,300 per month, plus freight charges ( 169,600).

Procurement by the Field Administration and Logistics Division of the Department of Peacekeeping Operations, including missions procuring under delegations of authority, amounted to 122 million, or 4 per cent of total United Nations system procurement.

Procurement of goods and equipment is a core activity for the Office, forming the main component of many of the projects undertaken on behalf of clients for 1996 total international procurement of goods and equipment amounted to 140 million (representing 1,158 purchase orders), with additional local procurement of 26,000.

Total procurement on behalf of Governments amounted to just US 157 million, or 3.5 per cent of the organizations' aggregate spending in 2002.

The former Department for Development Support and Management Services (now part of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs), whose procurement operations are now integrated into the Procurement Division, procured 24 million in 1997, with 35 per cent of that amount from developing countries, up from 29 per cent in 1996.

The mission assets module provides the link to the procurement system and includes procurement information such as requisition and purchase order numbers, original purchase price and the length of serviceable life.
