2. The Provisional Technical Secretariat will be composed of an Executive Secretary who shall be its head and chief executive officer, and such other staff as may be required.

The representative of Switzerland commended the secretariat for the presentation of the documentation on technical cooperation.

The secretariat also collaborated with UNIDO in the organization of the Technology Fair of the Future.

The Working Group indicated to the Secretariat that this was a high priority, leading the Secretariat to accelerate its efforts as well as to prioritize introduction of this technology.

The SBSTA also requested the Parties to provide comments and information to the secretariat, for its own use, on the tasks listed in the secretariat apos s progress report by 31 May 1997, particularly on new reports and software on environmentally sound technologies and know how, for inclusion in an update of the technology inventory and database.

At its fifth session, the SBSTA took note of activities undertaken by the secretariat to prepare reports on topics, such as adaptation technologies, the terms of transfer of technology and know how and technology information centres. It urged the secretariat to accelerate these activities.

In its memorandum, the secretariat responded that the OIOS had identified two technical errors in one claim and the secretariat had identified one further technical error in another claim that should be corrected pursuant to article 41 of the Rules.
