VII. Initiatives in aid coordination

It welcomes in particular the work of the United Nations Special Coordinator in the Occupied Territories in the field of coordinating United Nations, as well as international, assistance to the Palestinian people.

12. The Council shares the view of the Secretary General that the resident coordinator should normally coordinate the humanitarian assistance activities of the United Nations by assuming the dual function of resident humanitarian coordinator.

Moreover, coordination of all types of external assistance must be done by the recipient Government, to ensure better coherence and coordination of the relief effort.

Under the Assistance Convention, upon receiving a request for assistance from a State party or member States, IAEA is required to coordinate assistance at the international level.

Some comment favourably upon the effectiveness of the resident coordinator system in assisting resource mobilization efforts others are more critical.
