Minimum operational security standards and training were fundamental.

This includes the application of security technologies, security policies, regulations, standards and information security education and training.

Discussions have been ongoing regarding the need to develop minimum operational security standards and criteria that could lead to the temporary suspension of United Nations operations because of security constraints.

The Committee emphasizes that, in the interest of safety and security of staff, the standard should be in compliance with minimum operating security standards and that this must be applied as a simple uniform standard indicator without room for leniency.
