The sentences do not yet have the force of law because both of the accused have filed appeals on points of law only against them.

The wording of the judgement was of course influenced by the fact that the Tribunal consisted of representatives of various legal systems and schools of thought.

During the period under review, there have been a number of successful legal challenges to mandatory death sentences.
