At present, in these establishments there are about 5,945 pedagogical cadres, most of them with the necessary qualifications to work in special schools.

Remedial and special education

The integration of students with special needs in establishments and classes of general education has been started in the country, ensuring the acquisition of the special educational programme and promoting integration into the society.

The special education programme in Jordan, funded through a project contribution, continued to provide additional teaching resources, and opportunities to integrate into mainstream schooling, for children with special needs in the lower elementary cycle.

The number of special education schools for children who cannot be integrated has increased from 30 to 185 in about 10 years.

Since the study year of 1990 91 the number of vocational schools and secondary special education establishments has decreased by 14 .

Types of special schools

1.2.2.1 Executive branch

Only pupils whose needs cannot be met through normal instruction receive special tuition.

The only discrepancy occurs in technical and vocational education, which is attributable to the difference within that particular branch of education.

The programme provided eight special education centres through which 500 slow learners were integrated into the regular education programme, 17 remedial classes which assisted 300 children with learning difficulties, and five special class sections for 20 deaf children.
