In a 2002 amendment, the legislator extended the single parent privilege under the Sick Pay Law (Absence from Work due to a Child's Sickness), 5753 1993 ( Sick Pay Law (Absence from Work due to a Child's Sickness) ), granting a 12 day leave to tend to a sick child (compared to the standard 8 days).

Provision is made in an amount of 56,000 to cover periods of maternity leave, extended sick leave and peak workload for the Department.
