So far, pre school education has not been a prerequisite for access to the primary level it consists of three grades, the first for three year olds, the second for four year olds, and the third for five year olds.

Basic education comprises three levels pre school, primary and secondary.

Two Maori tertiary institutions already existed and a third was expected to be functioning by the end of 1995.

Higher education starts after the baccalaureate and comprises three levels higher technical, also known as associate vocational, the bachelor's degree and postgraduate.

At other levels males predominate. The higher the level, the larger the gap (p. 34), until the enrolment of girls at the tertiary level becomes negligible (p. 35).Women and girls are inadequately represented at all levels in the education system, including as teachers.

The third thing is our higher education.

The person is enrolled in programmes of further vocational education that allow acquiring the third level of professional qualifications, after the person has acquired vocational education or secondary education.

The Law On Vocational Education regulates primary vocational education, secondary vocational education and higher professional education of the first level, as well as the awarding of the respective professional qualifications.

The higher education subsystem benefits 12 times as many students from families in the bottom three income deciles than those from families in the top three, which shows that to make higher education free would deepen inequality of access.

III. Pedagogical activities

As stated in the General Education Act, there are three types of education basic, upper secondary and higher.

In addition to those three types of education, the education system includes initial education, special education and adult education.

The three branches of the Educational Sciences Faculty (ESF) in Jordan and the West Bank continued to provide pre service and in service teacher training leading to a first level university degree.

The Ministry of national Education and Religious Affairs studies ways of informing of the students at the senior grades of Lykeio (non compulsory secondary education, succeeding the three years of compulsory secondary education, Gymnasio) regarding the problem of trafficking in human beings for their sexual and financial exploitation.

Young people are particularly dominant in intermediate general secondary classes (Figure 56), an indication of the shift from second chance education to second route education.

The commonest levels are primary and, to a lesser extent, secondary.
