69. Inter institutional cooperation has also been significant with regional institutions, including UN regional economic and social commissions and regional development banks.

This can be attributed, in part, to the sound macroeconomic policies as well as the open trade and investment policies in the major developing economies of the region.

7. Expresses its appreciation for the efforts of the Economic Cooperation Organization in developing a regional energy trade with the cooperation and active participation of subregional and international organizations such as the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank and the Islamic Development Bank

256. The duty free industrial zones have become one of the fastest growing areas of the economy in recent years.

Currently the Republic of China is contributing capital to regional development programmes through institutions such as the Asian Development Bank, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration, the Inter American Development Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

The Economic and Social Survey of Asia and the Pacific, 2005, looks at trends in the regional economy in 2004 and the policy choices facing the region.

(a) To produce, through the Economic Survey of Europe, the analysis of economic developments and problems in the countries with economies in transition and their economic and financial relations with other countries of the ECE region and the rest of the world.

14. Cooperation with the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD) was undertaken in the framework of ESCWA activities in community development, human development and poverty eradication.

Bearing in mind that the Permanent Secretariat of the Latin American Economic System has carried out several programmes with the support of the United Nations Development Programme in areas that are considered of priority for the economic and social development of the region,

We recently released a regional MDG report that was jointly authored by the United Nations Development Programme, the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific and the Asian Development Bank.

(d) Facilitating subregional economic cooperation, integration and development

300. One of the most significant benefits to be realized by a coastal State from its exclusive economic zone is the exploitation of non living marine resources of this zone.

(c) Providing advisory services to member States, regional economic communities and subregional development operators

As in previous years, the Division continues to coordinate and cooperate with existing support activities in the region by the European Union, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the Observatoire économique et statistique d'Afrique sub saharienne (AFRISTAT).

Urban settlements represented concentrations of production, economies and social development, at the same time generating risks and encompassing vulnerabilities not only for its residents, settlements and assets but often also for regional, if not global, economies.

The IDB, the world's largest regional development bank, works in Latin America and the Caribbean purportedly to contribute to the acceleration of economic and social development. Its actions in Haiti, however, have severely undermined those goals.

Natural resources in the indigenous territories shall be developed without harm to the cultural, social, and economic integrity of the indigenous communities.

Consideration should be given to the different levels of economic development in various regions with a view to assisting developing economies and enabling them to compete with the developed countries on favourable terms.

44. To promote economic development, UNDP continued its capacity building support to the key sectors of the Palestinian economy.

The workshops were organized within the context of the UNDP UNCTAD regional programme for the Arab States Economic Integration and Trade.

The Council further emphasizes the need to generate economic activities and foster development as a means of promoting sustainable peace in the subregion.
