Morocco UNIC Rabat issued two press releases which were distributed to officials, NGOs and the media.

In this respect, the outreach activities undertaken by the United Nations Information Centres (UNICs) and United Nations Information Services (UNISs) have had a significant impact.

Various public and media events were organized, for example, by the Regional United Nations Information Centre for Western Europe, the United Nations Information Services in Geneva and Vienna and by United Nations information centres in Accra, Asunción, Harare, Manama, Moscow, New Delhi, Tehran and Warsaw, and the United Nations Office in Armenia.

It was also attempting to familiarize them with the rules and procedures of the United Nations.

An observance of World Press Freedom Day, organized by the Department in cooperation with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the United Nations Correspondents Association, and the World Press Freedom Committee, was held on 4 May 1998.
