As stated in these reporting guidelines, the CRF consists of summary report and sectoral report tables from the Revised 1996 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (IPCC Guidelines) plus newly developed sectoral background data tables and other tables that are consistent with the IPCC Guidelines and the IPCC Good Practice Guidance and Uncertainty Management in National Greenhouse Gas Inventories.

26. With regard to the format of the budget reports, further efforts should be made to standardize annexes and tables. In the UNPREDEP budget report (A 52 805), for example, annex I provides a breakdown of the cost estimates for the period from 1 July 1998 to 30 June 1999.

II. THE INITIAL UNIFORM REPORTING FORMAT

OF SPECIAL RAPPORTEURS AND REPRESENTATIVES

The existence of two different formats, and the fact that Parties had only a few weeks between March and the submission deadline of 30 June 1997 for preparing reports in accordance with the URF, account for a certain lack of homogeneity in the scope and detail of reporting by Parties.

The format of the report on the proposed budget is similar to that used for all previous budget proposals, with the exception of table 2 which now contains prior year information, as suggested by ACABQ in its earlier report.

The Committee commends the Secretary General for the format and presentation of the performance report.
