How Effective is Disaster Relief?

It continues to be easier to mobilize support for post disaster responses than for preparedness and mitigation activities that could avoid the loss of life and the destruction of vital assets.

A national day of mourning was observed across Australia on 16 January, and, here in New York, a relief concert will be held next week, on 26 January coincidentally, the national day of India, one of the affected countries, and also of Australia to help raise funds for the victims of this tragedy.

Yet he who gives to others and has fear,

So for one who gave and practised piety

As for him who gives and is godfearing

Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him.
