Effective measures to combat transnational organized crime (agenda item 3)

The international community now has five new instruments in the area of transnational crime the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime and the three protocols thereto and the Convention against Corruption.

Available figures indicate that, across the country, some 37,720,000 pornographic publications were seized.

Implementation of national and transnational space projects were introduced during the Workshop.

Cross border project activities have already resulted in increased communication and information exchange.

CONVENTION AGAINST ORGANIZED TRANSNATIONAL CRIME

His delegation welcomed the entry into force of the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime and reiterated Mongolia's support of the goals and principles of the Convention.

ECOSAP is designed to promote, by strengthening them, capacities to monitor the illicit circulation of small arms across the borders of member States.

First, and predominantly, through the development and implementation of specific national, regional and cross regional projects covering the areas of activity noted in point (1).

Finland was also of the opinion that terrorism should not be dealt with by a convention against organized transnational crime, for its aims were different.

The meeting discussed and analysed possible technical cooperation follow up to that Conference, and two major regional projects, the first one dealing with transnational organized crime, the second one with corruption.

40. UNHCR multisectoral care and maintenance projects in the Niger will continue to be implemented by the national Red Cross and Caritas.

The project aims at promoting multimodal transport and facilitating international land transport movement across the subregion, as well as the development of a legal and regulatory system for efficient transport.

35. Work is in progress on a project on transnational corporations and industrial restructuring in developing countries in which case studies will be undertaken for two African countries.
