It will be necessary to replace 25 of the Mission s aged vehicles (22 4x4s, 2 buses and 1 double cabin pick up) during the 12 month period.

As compared to the current level of UNFICYP vehicles, the proposed vehicle establishment includes 48 additional vehicles for commercial hire and the write off of 8 vehicles (four 4x4 trucks) with replacement.

Delivery of the 25 replacement vehicles is expected by 1 January 1999.

The cost estimate provides for the purchase of 40 light utility vehicles (jeeps) at a cost of 15,000 per vehicle, to replace worn or damaged vehicles that have been written off ( 600,000).

Additional requirements of 4,824,000 were incurred from the replacement of worn damaged vehicles and the purchase of passenger buses to replace those which were being rented.
