In response to resolution 59 268, at its ninth session (April 2005), the CEB High level Committee on Management (HLCM) endorsed, on behalf of CEB, the redesignation of the Senior Management Service as the Senior Management Network.

The Under Secretary General held separate policy and coordination meetings with the High Commissioner for Human Rights in October 2004 and with the Deputy High Commissioner in December 2004.

The University organized a number of consultative meetings in the past to assist in the process of formulating the UNU IAS programme of work.

Such programmes would address the objectives set out in the UNHCR Convention Plus initiative, and would set the foundations for special agreements along the lines envisaged by the High Commissioner.

Senior officials from about 30 organizations participated in the High level Meeting.

The session consolidated the outcomes of the high level seminar and arrived, by consensus, at a set of conclusions and recommendations, including the recommendation to set up the high level task force, to guide the future work of the Working Group.

The selection of senior conference managers has proceeded smoothly through active consultations at the highest levels of management in the Department for General Assembly and Conference Management and at the other three duty stations.

That will be followed by high level consultations and, subsequently, a Ministerial Council meeting in Ljubljana.

In its resolution 52 108, the Assembly decided to appoint the High Commissioner for Human Rights as coordinator for the Decade.

This accord, if approved by CEB HLCM, will replace the current inter agency agreement for loans, transfers and secondments.
