Baba Shiv Sometimes it's good to give up the driver's seat

It's 45 years of it that's created what I call the baba factor.

On behalf of the Council, I extend a warm welcome to His Excellency Mr. Baba Gana Kingibe.

I also welcome Ambassador Baba Gana Kingibe, the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union in the Sudan.

The President (spoke in French) I thank Mr. Baba Gana Kingibe for his statement and for the kind words he addressed to me.

During his visit, the Prime Minister, together with Baba e Millat, former King Zahir Shah, laid the foundation stone of the building which would house the newly constituted parliament of Afghanistan.

The President (spoke in French) I now give the floor to the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union in the Sudan, His Excellency Mr. Baba Gana Kingibe.

The Special Representative of the Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union, Baba Gana Kingibe, welcomed the comprehensive proposals for the deployment of a United Nations peace support operation in the Sudan and proposed a united, unified approach.

These attacks were confirmed by the Head of AMIS, Baba Gana Kingibe, who announced in a press conference on 1 October that the Sudanese Armed Forces had conducted coordinated offensive operations with tribal militia on four occasions since 18 September.

And we studied with a wise man, a guru named Karoli Baba, who then told me to get rid of the dress, put on a three piece suit, go join the United Nations as a diplomat and work for the World Health Organization.

And what Rayan did then is he sat there, he tapped his foot on the floor, at three and a half, and he looked at me and he said, Baba, I want you to come with me to my office in my house.

Last summer when we were in our home in New York, he was out in the yard playing in his playhouse. And I was in my office working, and he came in, Baba, I want you to come with me. I want my toy.

UNMIS liaises closely with the African Union Mission in Sudan, through regular contacts with the Special Representative in the Sudan of the African Union Commission Chairperson, Baba Gana Kingibe, as well as through its constant presence, increasing joint activities on the ground in Darfur and periodic meetings with the AU leadership in Addis Ababa.

On 8 February, the Council held a public meeting in the presence of the Secretary General of the United Nations, the Vice President of the Sudan, Ali Othman Taha, the Chairman of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement Army, John Garang, as well as the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union in the Sudan, Baba Gana Kingibe.

Pursuant to the invitation extended by the Council, I invite His Excellency Mr. Baba Gana Kingibe, Special Representative of the Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union in the Sudan, to participate in the discussion without the right to vote, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Charter and rule 39 of the Council's provisional rules of procedure.

Over the years, research has shown a counterintuitive fact about human nature That sometimes, having too much choice makes us less happy. This may even be true when it comes to medical treatment. Baba Shiv shares a fascinating study that measures why choice opens the door to doubt, and suggests that ceding control especially on life or death decisions may be the best thing for us.
