Mr. Šerkšnys (Lithuania) I have the honour to speak on behalf of the three Baltic States Estonia, Latvia and my own country, Lithuania.

Lithuania is subject to IAEA and EURATOM safeguards.

In that connection, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania would like to emphasize the following points.

Lithuania provided copies of its laws and regulations that gave effect to article 6.

Lithuania believes that the issue of non strategic nuclear weapons, among others, should be addressed as a matter of priority.

The representative of Egypt introduced the draft resolution, on behalf of the sponsors listed, as well as Iraq, Lithuania and Poland.

Regarding compensation of victims, Lithuania signed the 1983 European Convention on the Compensation of Victims of Violent Crimes on 14 January 2004.

The Republic of Lithuania does not have a single or special law providing for rehabilitation and reintegration of victims of terrorist acts.

The Permanent Mission of Lithuania to the United Nations presents its compliments to the Chairman of the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1540 (2004), and has the honour to submit, in accordance with paragraph 4 of resolution 1540 (2004), the report of the Republic of Lithuania for the year 2005 (see annex ).
