The Submillimeter Wave Astronomy Satellite (SWAS) is to be launched on a Pegasus rocket in 1995 or 1996.

Of the major low cost launchers of European countries and the United States, only Pegasus and Taurus are flight proven.

On 9 February 1993, a Pegasus launcher launched the first Brazilian data collection satellite (SCD 1) with an inclination of 25 degrees and an altitude of 750 km.

23. A small satellite project in Argentina, Scientific Application Satellite B (SAC B), was being prepared in cooperation with the United States for a Pegasus launch at the end of 1996.

The Subcommittee took note of developments in the United States commercial launch industry, including the Atlas, Delta and Pegasus expendable vehicles, and the Reusable Launch Vehicle technology programme that included the X 33 experimental launch vehicle.

The first option can require full propulsion restart, as practised by the Delta, Delta 2, Pegasus, and Japanese N II programmes, or idle motor burns, as demonstrated by the H I and H II upper stages.

The current and future development of small satellites is closely linked to the appearance of new, low cost launchers (Pegasus, Taurus etc.) and lower cost launch opportunities on existing vehicles (for example, Ariane 4 or small canisters on the Space Shuttle).

The Centre for the Treatment of Addicted People (KE.THE.A) continues to offer services through the Mobile Information Unit PEGASUS , as well as through integrated programmes of primary prevention implemented either in educational institutions or outside them in co operation with local authorities.

Special interest was devoted to those subpopulations of the debris environment that are currently not properly taken into account by environment models the NaK droplets (assumed coolant leaking from RORSAT nuclear power reactors) and the family of debris from the PEGASUS HAPS break up in June 1996.

SAC B is an Argentine American satellite designed to advance the study of solar physics and astrophysics through the examination of solar flares, gamma ray bursts, diffuse X ray cosmic background, and energetic neutral atoms. SAC B, a 181 kg. spacecraft, will be launched into orbit by a Pegasus XL rocket.

The Subcommittee took note of developments in the United States commercial launch industry, including the Athene, Atlas, Delta, Pegasus and Taurus expendable vehicles and the Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV) three pronged programme designed to demonstrate the technical feasibility of Single Stage to Orbit using the X 33 sub orbital vehicle and robust operability using the X 34 vehicle.

Of the major European and United States small launchers, only Pegasus and Taurus were flight proven. Spain was preparing a test flight of its new Capricornio launcher the development of the San Marco Scout of Italy had not yet started (although its forerunner, the United States Scout, had been operational for many years) and the Ariane 5 derivative programme should be completed in 1999.
