This has inspired the design of the first self cleaning dry adhesive the patent issued, we're happy to say.

And I'm really pleased to report to you today that the first synthetic self cleaning, dry adhesive has been made.

These tuned structures allow the spines, friction pads and ultimately the adhesive hairs to grab onto very challenging, difficult surfaces.

Well I'm really excited today to show you the newest version of a robot, Stickybot, using a new hierarchical dry adhesive.

And here's the simplest version in nature, and here's my collaborator Ron Fearing's attempt at an artificial version of this dry adhesive made from polyurethane.

In 2016, the State Post Bureau published a report stating that approximately 780 million items were delivered by express couriers during the 2015 Singles Day period (November 11 16), with more than 3 billion woven bags, 9.922 billion packaging cartons, and 16.985 billion meters of adhesive tape used. The length of adhesive tape used could go round the equator 425 times.

And now it can go on other surfaces because of the new adhesive that the Stanford group was able to do in designing this incredible robot.

And just recently we've made a breakthrough, where we now believe we're going to be able to create the first synthetic, self cleaning, dry adhesive. Many companies are interested in this.

In fact, the fiscal union proved to be explosive rather than adhesive. As international capital markets developed in the early nineteenth century, state governments borrowed on a large scale, quickly turning them from creditors into debtors.
