I distinctly nobody forgets cod liver oil.

Many types of frozen fish enter the United States market duty free frozen cod, frozen cod fillets and dried cod which currently face import duties will be bound at duty free after the implementation of the Uruguay Round.

Since the long term closure of fishing grounds could cause problems for fisherfolk, Norway had focused its long term efforts on improving the selectivity of trawl gears through the development of grid technology in the shrimp and cod fisheries, which had yielded cleaner catches and fewer damaged shrimp.

While the tariff for dried cod will decline from 15 per cent to 10.5 per cent, tariffs on canned tuna imports into Japan will be reduced from 15 per cent to 9.6 per cent, and the tariff on canned shrimp will go down from 15 per cent to 4.8 per cent.

112. In addition to the above, NAFO reported that it had in 1995 1997 developed and introduced sorting grids in the shrimp fishery. By using the grid, the vessel would have cleaner catches and avoid by catches of other juvenile fish (mostly redfish and cod) in the areas of concentration of shrimp.

Some of the US counties with a high proportion of vacation homes are seeing price increases that rival, if not outstrip, the booming metropolitan areas. For example, according to the Case Shiller Indexes, home prices in the fashionable Cape Cod vacation area in Massachusetts soared 184 from 1997 to 2005, compared to the 131 increase in nearby Boston over the same period.

If only one change in the prevailing mindset could be made, it should be to realize that, in the case of fish like cod, big is beautiful. To reconstruct our approach to fisheries management with measures that increase the survival of large, old individuals would be good for the health of our stocks in the short term and would be appreciated by our descendants.

263. Recent assessments by FAO, however, provided that over 35 per cent of the world s major marine fisheries resources were showing declining yields and 25 per cent had reached a peak at high exploitation level, and that the potential for further increases in output was very modest at best.40 It is believed that as overfishing has depleted prized species, like tuna, cod and swordfish.
