Okay, in this presentation, I'm going to be putting the right side of your brains through a fairly serious workout.

What lessons can be drawn from these experiences which would contribute to the design of an orderly debt workout mechanism?

She wondered what action had been taken to implement the Board's recommendations, and expressed keen interest in the three phase workout plan which UNOPS had proposed.

The more likely outcome is that it will manage to come to some accommodation that the holdouts find more attractive than the deal accepted by the other creditors. But they also do some of the irrational things we do.

There are some states that do well through redistribution, some states that do well because they have smaller income differences before tax.

Some systems operate publicly, others do not.

While governments and central banks race frantically to find a solution, there is a profound psychological dynamic at work that stands in the way of an orderly debt workout our aversion to recognizing obligations to strangers.
