Eighty one per cent of the population is West Indian, while 13 per cent were born in the United States mainland.3

Eighty per cent of the population depends on agriculture for a livelihood and it provides employment for 85 per cent of all working women.

Eighty five per cent of the Cambodian population lives in rural areas (para. 360).

Eighty six per cent of the exports were from the Gulf Cooperation Council, which also accounted for 70 per cent of all imports into ESCWA member countries.

Eighty nine per cent of the States replying (compared with 91 per cent for the second reporting period and 80 for the first) responded in the affirmative (see figure IV).

The female population is 25.8 per cent urban, 31.13 per cent suburban and 43 per cent rural, while the male population is 25.28 per cent urban, 32.02 per cent suburban and 42.71 per cent rural.

Kosovo wide billings and collections by publicly owned enterprises are increasing, approaching 100 per cent for PTK (collections up 5 per cent to 70 per cent) 84 per cent for water sector utilities (collections up 15 per cent to 50 per cent) 60 per cent for KEK (collections 32 per cent).

The main areas supported by these 135 United Nations partnership initiatives were education (22 per cent), health (21 per cent), HIV AIDS (21 per cent), protection (13 per cent), gender (13 per cent) and emergencies (11 per cent).

Minority communities' employment in the public service providers is 5.83 per cent overall (Kosovo Electricity Company under 1.5 per cent, Post and Telecommunication Company 4 per cent, railway 15 per cent, airport 1.7 per cent, water, waste and irrigation 16.6 per cent, district heating 12 per cent).

The major audit observations (61 per cent) are in the following key areas financial management (18 per cent) audit management (14 per cent) Information and communications technology (ICT) management (10 per cent), treasury management (10 per cent) and procurement management (9 per cent).

The Forum attracted 4,389 participants, including Government officials (17.7 per cent), local authorities (16.4 per cent), non governmental organizations (21.2 per cent), United Nations entities (4.1 per cent), professional and research institutions (8 per cent) and the private sector (8 per cent).

These accounted for 12.7 per cent and 11.7 per cent of 2004 employment, respectively, as compared with 15.5 per cent and 22.1 per cent in 1999.

Forty eight per cent of the funds requested were for Asia, 42 per cent for Africa, 6 per cent for Eastern Europe, 1 per cent for Latin America and 3 per cent for global projects.

In 2002, procurement for Governments as direct clients was performed mostly by ITU (89 per cent of total) ICAO (85 per cent) UNICEF (32 per cent) IAPSO (8 per cent) and UNFPA (6 per cent).

Figure I shows that the percentage of programme expenditures was highest for ECD (34 per cent), followed by immunization plus (22 per cent), girls' education (21 per cent), child protection (10 per cent), HIV AIDS (9 per cent) and other areas (4 per cent).

The geographical distribution of responses remained largely unchanged between the second and third reporting periods (Africa, 19 per cent Americas, 19 per cent Asia, 28 per cent Europe, 32 per cent and Oceania, 2 per cent).

Of these, 40 per cent are within sub Saharan Africa, 4 per cent in North Africa, 11 per cent in Latin America, 6 per cent in the Caribbean, 5 per cent in West Asia, 5 per cent in East Asia, 8 in South East Asia and Oceania, and 5 per cent in South Asia.

The enrolment rate is 98 per cent for men and 96 per cent for women for elementary education, 56.3 per cent for men and 57.5 per cent for women for secondary education, 18.4 per cent for men and 21.3 per cent for women in higher education.

The figures for other regions were Europe 93 per cent, Africa 75 per cent and Asia 61 per cent.

Transport and insurance payments as a proportion of the value of exports are 55.5 per cent in Malawi, 51.8 per cent in Chad, 48.4 per cent in Rwanda, 35.6 per cent in Mali, 35.5 per cent in Uganda and 32.8 per cent in the Central African Republic.3

Seventy three per cent of Nicaragua's population is Catholic, 15.1 per cent is Evangelical and 1.5 per cent is Moravian. Two per cent of the population belongs to other faiths and 8.4 per cent does not practise any religion.

The highest per cent vaccinated was in Livno Canton, 99.5 per cent, and the lowest in Tuzla Canton, 89.5 per cent.

The estimated share of non agricultural workforce that is informal is 30 per cent in Portugal 38 per cent in Chile 40 per cent in Mexico 50 per cent in Thailand, Turkey and Brazil 70 per cent in India, Indonesia, Pakistan and the Philippines and 80 per cent in sub Saharan Africa.

The biennial global event was very well attended, attracting a total of 4,389 participants, among them, Government officials (17.7 per cent) local authorities (16.4 per cent) non governmental organizations (21.2 per cent) other United Nations agencies (4.1 per cent) professional and research institutions (8 per cent) and the private sector (8 per cent).

However, progress has been slow among women (78.4 per cent in 2002, compared with 86.4 per cent for men), among indigenous people (71.5 per cent, compared with 89.5 per cent for non indigenous people), and among the rural population (73.9 per cent).

One study indicated that import delays are the result of pre arrival documentation (59 per cent), customs clearance (16 per cent), port operations (12 per cent) and inland transportation (13 per cent).

Additionally, 38.1 per cent reported that their monitoring activities included disabled persons' organizations 38.1 per cent included service provision organizations 33.6 per cent included service providers and 24.8 per cent included others.

In urban areas, out of a total of 25.9 per cent, women represent 25.6 per cent and men, just 0.3 per cent.

Mozambique more than doubled, from 16 per cent to 35 per cent.

On a regional basis, of those countries which reported in both the second and the third cycle on the establishment of a central anti money laundering unit, Africa showed a dramatic increase, from 27 per cent to 73 per cent the Americas increased from 87 per cent to 93 per cent Oceania remained the same at 100 per cent Asia declined from 50 per cent to 41 per cent and Europe also declined slightly, from 96 per cent to 92 per cent (see figure VIII).

While there are shortfalls in all sectors, the following have received less than 20 per cent of the required funding rule of law and governance (4 per cent) cross sector support to return and reintegration (10 per cent) protection (14 per cent) shelter and non food items (16 per cent) and education (17 per cent).

Argentina grew 8.8 per cent in 2003, 9 per cent in 2004 and over 9 per cent in the first half of 2005.

Singapore's OFDI to Malaysia declined from 60 per cent in 1981 to 17 per cent in 1996 and 8 per cent in 2003.

The local comprehensive health care systems with the highest rates were Estelí (77 per cent), León (74.8 per cent) and Carazo (74.2 per cent), while those with the lowest rates were the North Atlantic Autonomous Region (45.9 per cent) and Jinotega (55 per cent).

In a few Parties, the industrial sector contributed substantially to GDP, for example 72 per cent in the Republic of Korea, 48 per cent in China, 32 per cent in Malaysia, 28 per cent in Algeria and 25 per cent in Ghana and South Africa.

On a regional basis, of those 72 States replying in both the second and the third reporting periods as to whether money laundering was an extraditable offence, the Americas showed an increase from 80 per cent to 87 per cent Asia and Oceania remained stable at 61 per cent and 100 per cent, respectively Africa declined from 73 per cent to 64 per cent and Europe declined from 96 per cent to 88 per cent (see figure V).

On a regional basis, of the countries reporting for both the second and third periods on putting into practice the know your client principle, Africa showed a significant increase, from 46 per cent to 64 per cent Asia increased from 50 per cent to 53 per cent the Americas remained stable at 93 per cent Oceania (two countries) remained stable at 100 per cent while Europe declined from 96 per cent to 92 per cent (see figure VII).

In terms of the existence of a smoking habit in the past, 14.2 per cent confirmed their smoking (4.1 per cent smoked at the age of 11, 11.6 per cent at the age of 13, and 26.8 per cent at the age of 15), while 4.2 per cent of respondents said they were currently smoking (0.7 per cent at the age of 11, 1.4 per cent at the age of 13, and 10.6 per cent at age 15).

The research carried out among schoolchildren in Republika Srpska shows that 41 per cent of the respondents drink beer (31.5 per cent of the respondents at the age of 11, 42.4 per cent at the age of 13, and 48.7 per cent at the age of 15), 33.4 per cent drink wine (22.8 per cent of respondents at the age of 11, 36 per cent at the age of 13, and 41.3 per cent at the age of 15).

In the Americas, 94 per cent and in Europe 93 per cent of the States had done so, while the figure for Africa was 69 per cent and in Asia only 41 per cent.

Average malnutrition rates have dropped since last year, from 21.8 per cent to 11.9 per cent this year, with severe malnutrition rates dropping to 1.4 per cent, down from 3.9 per cent in 2004.
