The work to be carried out includes proper electrical installations to ensure a safe working environment.

In order to perform the electrical repair and maintenance of all engineering equipment fitted with electrical installations for power generation two additional United Nations posts are requested.

Provision is made for supplies to upgrade substandard electrical installations in Sukhumi, Gali and Zugdidi, at the transport workshops and team bases ( 46,800) and for supplies such as electrical cables, relays, breakers, fuse panels and stores for routine maintenance of electrical equipment ( 30,000).

With project funding, upgrading and equipping of workshops in diesel mechanics, general electrical installations, radio and television, and electronics were completed.

Provision is made to cover the cost of electrical supplies required for the repair and maintenance of all electrical installations at UNIKOM facilities, including reticulations system, consumer outlets, security lighting, area lighting, control system and protection systems.

The impact would be increased by the fact that satellite phones could be easily redeployed, whereas conventional installations were more or less fixed.

The estimated cost of the construction project includes material and labour, technical reconnaissance, site preparation, erection of structures, drainage, water supply and waste disposal systems, electrical installations, storage and surface improvements.
