9. The annex to the present report provides preliminary indicative estimates of resources distributed among the various parts of the programme budget.

Preliminary Indicative Scale

With regard to the programme of work and budget for 2006, the representative of the secretariat recalled that the budget as approved by the Conference in decision RC 1 17 was an indicative budget which needed updating.

The Conference has already allocated 11,968 in the indicative budget, so the amount needed to increase the level to 15 cent would be 517,561.

He hoped to get some indicative figures on whether UNCTAD anticipated the same level of regular budget resources for 2006 2007 as in previous biennia.

On the basis of its recommended budget decision, the SBI will authorize the Executive Secretary to notify the Parties by 1 October, 1997 of their indicative contributions due to the core budget by 1 January, 1998

On the basis of the above, the SBSTA urged the SBI to give consideration to the indicative budget, reflecting priorities for methodological work, proposed in the following table in establishing a UNFCCC budget for the next biennium.

17. The Secretariat was requested to give detailed justification for the proposed increases or decreases in the indicative estimates for the 13 parts of the budget, including all legislative mandates for which corresponding increases or decreases had been proposed in the budget outline.

In the indicative operational budget for 2006, the total estimated expenditure, including programme support costs, amounts to 3,530,191 thus a working capital reserve of 15 per cent would amount to 529,529.
