This item deals with the review of national policies related to investment at the intergovernmental level.

Until 2002, the issue of peaceful settlement of disputes had not been examined by the Special Committee on a general level, as the agenda item had always included a sub item that was specific.

The Board began its high level segment on agenda item 2 with a statement by Dr. Supachai Panitchpakdi, Secretary General of UNCTAD.

With regard to agenda item 9, High level segment , the President recalled that the SBI at its twenty second session had endorsed the dates of 7 to 9 December for the high level segment.

Decides to include in the provisional agenda of its fifty eighth session, under an item entitled Follow up to the International Conference on Financing for Development , a sub item entitled High Level Dialogue for the implementation of the outcome of the International Conference on Financing for Development

The forum would provide an opportunity for high level participants to communicate their views on selected topics, and is also proposed for inclusion in the provisional agenda of the session (annex, item 9).
