Flush toilets, water seal latrines and pit latrines have been considered to be satisfactory excreta disposal systems.

The programme involves awareness generation of the benefits of sanitary latrines, provision of the technology for building cost effective latrines, encouraging the householders by providing some components for the latrine and guiding them in the construction of the latrines.

13. Improvement of latrines, waste management and environmental protection
