There was significant support for the idea that for services to improve, the quality of jobs must be improved, and basic dignity should be given to what is sometimes seen as menial labour.

Reports indicate that from time to time, SPDC troops in Kun Hing have been forcing children of the villagers to do menial work in the military bases, 10 15 boys at a time, ages ranging mostly from 14 to 16.

In economic development there are at least seven gender issues, namely limited employment opportunities for women  limited access by women to economic resources  unpaid employment of women in family enterprises low rate of participation by women in the labor market concentration of women in low income menial jobs discrimination against women workers in recruitment and promotion  and inadequate protection of women workers.
