28. The increase in net revenue ( 302,400) results from recosting, with the application of revised exchange rates and inflation factors to both revenue and expenditure estimates.

Estimated 2005 total revenue is 53.77 million, which is composed of (a) revenue derived from project portfolio implementation services at 42.14 million (b) service revenue of 9.82 million derived from supervision and loan administration services to IFAD projects and from GFATM, for which UNOPS is the local fund agent in various countries and (c) rental revenue derived from subleasing UNOPS headquarters premises, interest income and other miscellaneous income totalling 1.81 million.

The objective of these activities is to provide the widest possible dissemination of information about the United Nations to the general public while generating net revenue for the Organization.

(a) As tariff barriers decline, it is important to find other revenue sources in place of falling trade tax revenue since, in several African countries, such revenue remains a significant part of total revenue. During the transition to non trade sources of revenue, aid flows, aimed at replacing revenue shortfalls from trade liberalization, could be very useful

IS3.4 It is anticipated that projected combined net revenue in respect of all services to the public for the biennium 2006 2007 ( 5,445,200) would reflect an increase of 1,216,500 in comparison with the estimated net income of 4,228,700 for the biennium 2004 2005 as shown in table IS3.2.
