Child mortality has been reduced by almost half.

The malnutrition rate and the child mortality rate have been reduced.

By the same date, to have reduced maternal mortality by three quarters, and under five child mortality by two thirds, of their current rates.

And they reduced child mortality, with an amazing 4.7 percent per year. They beat Sweden.

However, in other regions child mortality remains high, with 81 deaths of children under five for every 1,000 live births, where mortality was reduced by only 20 per cent (see figure below).

Over the past decade, the infant mortality rate has been reduced from 126 to 60 deaths per 1,000 live births.

Measles mortality in Africa had been reduced from an estimated 482,000 cases in 1999 to fewer than 240,000 in 2004.

Poverty rates had fallen from over 70 per cent in 1971 to less than 42 per cent in 2004, and child mortality had been substantially reduced.

The National Health Development Plan (PNDS) for 1996 to 2005 had reduced mother and child mortality and women had been made responsible for maintaining village water supply infrastructure.

This seems counterintuitive, but turns out that as infant mortality is reduced, population sizes also decrease, because parents don't need to anticipate that their babies are going to die.

Improved general health status and reproductive patterns, together with access to appropriate general and specialized health care, have greatly reduced the incidence of maternal mortality in the last century.

For the health and nutrition component of the national programme, infant, under 5 and maternal mortality, along with the incidence of underweight and micronutrient deficiency, have been reduced since 2000.

The Programme of Action urged that by 2000, under five mortality should be reduced by one third or to a maximum of 70 deaths per 1,000 births in all countries, and that under five mortality should decline to below 45 deaths per 1,000 births in all countries by 2015 (para. 8.16), a goal consistent with the United Nations Millennium Declaration's goal of reducing under five mortality by two thirds between 1990 and 2015.

Our performance in infant mortality and maternal mortality has not been so good.

Increasing the equitable access to and use of safe water and basic sanitation services and improved hygiene practices will reduce child mortality, improve health and education outcomes, and contribute to reduced poverty and sustainable development as a whole.

First, we know that giving birth for the first time when younger carries a cost in increased infant mortality, but modern medicine and hygiene have strikingly reduced infant mortality, reducing the cost of younger age at first birth. We therefore expect a shift toward earlier reproduction, because the costs previously associated with doing so have disappeared exactly what we found in Framingham.

And she's recognizing the dangers of mortality and why she should break away from mortality.

However, the Committee is very concerned that despite decreases in the infant mortality rate, under five mortality rate and maternal mortality rate, these rates remain very high.

Maternal mortality and the mortality of parents due to HIV AIDS often lead to or exacerbate poverty.

That starts with strong leadership in countries where the challenge is acute. While my country, Rwanda, has reduced child mortality by 70 over the past decade, the rate of stunting remains high, with 44 of children under the age of five chronically malnourished.

Take child mortality the aim here is to reduce child mortality by two thirds, from 1990 to 2015.

Infant mortality rates remain high.
