Civil society organizations act as support institutions, service providers, and advocates for their stakeholders.

Under normal conditions, when in service at home, troop commanders receive sufficient legal support.

Furthermore, the International Civil Aviation Organization and international requirements mandate that the Aviation Safety Unit be independent from day to day operations, hence its placement under the Operational Support Service, whereas the Air Transport Section is placed under the Specialist Support Service of the Logistics Support Division.

The Service also provides other core electronic support services, including office automation, end user support for software applications, hardware maintenance and configuration and support for the implementation and maintenance of IMIS.

Three additional Finance Officer posts (P 3 level) are proposed for the Finance Management and Support Service.

On the basis of additional information provided to the Committee, it recommends acceptance of the General Service post to support the Mission Management and Support Section.

In 2004, the first voluntary post release support through a Community Re Entry programme was commenced, to assist in the coordination of service delivery, including the provision of transitional accommodation and support, a justice mediation service, drug alcohol management, family relationship services and mental health issues.

The government has provided financial support to help departments and agencies implement employment equity across the federal Public Service.

The Information Systems Section of the Service provides data analysis and technological tools to support investment decisions and accurate accounting.

Trade unions have provided leadership to community campaigns in support of quality public service, calling on Governments to provide the financial and regulatory support that is required for their upkeep.

In addition, the FAS used satellite imagery to monitor domestic crop production areas in support of work carried out by the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (redesignated the Farm Service Agency in October 1994).

The service provides weekly food supplements (milk, eggs and oranges), nutritional and lifestyle information, hands on experience with nutritious food preparation, regular peer group sessions, and one on one support service from paraprofessional and professionals.

With the support of UNDP, the Ministry continued its efforts to institutionalize its gender training programme by working with the Civil Service Commission to make gender training an integral part of the civil service training.

Renewed efforts to implement the MDGs at the country level and further decentralize support to the regional service centres, offer real opportunities to build joint UNDP United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) regional knowledge hubs' within regional service centres to support country offices and United Nations country teams (UNCTs).

The Advisory Committee recommends acceptance of two (out of the three) P 3 posts for the Finance Management and Support Service.

Invest in capacity development of key ministries so that the civil service will be better able to support and advise the incoming government, and promote administrative reform activities that would include civil service reform and decentralization.

Working closely with donors, UNMIS and UNDP collaborated in providing support to the Commission Preparatory Team for the National Judicial Service Commission.
