In particular, it noted that the Global Oscillations Network Group (GONG) instrument for observing solar global oscillations had been operating at Udaipur Solar Observatory in India since October 1995.

Experiments will be conducted at the Beijing Observatory using its solar magnetic field telescope with high altitude (above 30 km) balloons.

Data from SPARTAN 201 will also calibrate measurements to be made by the European Space Agency (ESA) NASA Solar and Heliospheric Observatory, scheduled for launch in 1995.

Norwegian solar scientists are active in several international space projects and are deeply involved in the ongoing Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) project of ESA and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) of the United States of America, which will continue to 2007.
