Work on the survey began with the design of the questionnaire in June 2004.

A supplementary questionnaire regarding men and women farmers to the annual agricultural survey was added.

Conclusions regarding the survey

The questionnaire was translated into French, Spanish and Arabic to remove any language barriers and allow for a smoother interaction with the content of the questionnaire.

The authors are hopeful that the questionnaire survey to be conducted will disclose the extent and nature of the issue of discrimination based on work and descent more comprehensively and accurately. Understanding the issue more deeply in this manner is an important starting point in the effort to resolve the problem.

Several representatives expressed concern at the poor rate of response to the third biennial reports questionnaire and at the lateness of many of the replies to the questionnaire.
