Urban agriculture and urban forestry can combine environmental goals such as reducing the ecological footprints of cities and utilizing city wastes with broader economic and social goals.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) participated in the dialogue on land and rural urban linkages.

Other applications involved urban planning, environmental analysis, transportation, watersheds, soils and agriculture, demographics, wildlife and endangered species, public health and emergency management.

If approved, this credit would be devoted to energy, urban communications and community development projects in agriculture, health and education, and to direct budget support.
