In August 1995, as a consequence of operation Storm launched by the Croatian authorities to recover control over the Krajina region, some 200,000 Croatian Serbs more than 90 per cent of the population of the former Sectors North and South fled from Croatia to the area of the so called Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina and to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
