f There is one vacancy in this group for a term expiring on 31 December 2008.

The Council decided that Germany and Switzerland, which were resigning their seats on the Board effective 1 January 2006, would be replaced, respectively, by France for a term expiring on 31 December 2006 and Canada for a term expiring on 31 December 2007.

(b) France and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, which were resigning their seats effective 1 January 2006, would be replaced, respectively, by Germany for a term expiring on 31 December 2007 and Italy for a term expiring on 31 December 2006.

The Council elected Sweden to fill a postponed vacancy for a term beginning on the date of election and expiring on 31 December 2008.

In accordance with article 4, paragraph 2, of the statute, the person so appointed will serve for a period expiring on 31 December 2008.

The Council elected Antigua and Barbuda and Haiti to fill postponed vacancies for a term beginning on the date of election and expiring on 31 December 2008.

The Council further postponed the election of one member from Asian States for a term beginning on the date of election and expiring on 31 December 2008.

The Council elected Haiti to fill a postponed vacancy on the Committee for a term beginning on the date of election and expiring on 31 December 2006.

By paragraph 5 of resolution 1552 (2004) of 27 July 2004, the Security Council re established the Group of Experts for a period expiring on 31 January 2005.

The Council elected Lebanon to fill a postponed vacancy for a term beginning on the date of election and expiring at the close of the Commission's thirty ninth session, in 2006.

Inspector Thomas had been appointed by the General Assembly on 6 June 2003 for a five year term of office, beginning on 1 January 2004 and expiring on 31 December 2008.

ff The Council postponed the election of one member from Asian States for a term beginning on the date of election and expiring on 31 December 2008 (decision 2005 201 B).

(a) Canada and Denmark, which were resigning their seats on the Board effective 27 April 2005, would be replaced, respectively, by Australia and Finland, each for a term expiring on 31 December 2005

The Council elected Arundhati Ghose (India) for a term beginning on the date of election and expiring on 31 December 2006, to fill a vacancy arising from the resignation of Chokila Iyer (India).

k The Council postponed the election of one member from Western European and other States for a term beginning on the date of election and expiring on 31 December 2008 (decision 2004 201 D).

The Council postponed the election of one member from Asian States and two members from Latin American and Caribbean States for a term beginning on the date of election and expiring on 31 December 2008.

The Council also elected Haiti to fill a postponed vacancy on the Commission for a term beginning on the date of election and expiring at the close of the Commission's forty first session, in 2008.

The Council appointed Iskra Beleva (Bulgaria) for a term beginning on the date of appointment and expiring on 31 December 2006 to fill a vacancy arising from the demise of Eul Yong Park (Republic of Korea).

The Council further postponed the election of one member from Latin American and Caribbean States for a term beginning on the date of election and expiring at the close of the Commission's forty first session, in 2008.

At the 93rd plenary meeting of its fifty eighth session, on 5 August 2004, the General Assembly appointed Mr. Tadanori Inomata (Japan) for a term of office beginning on 1 January 2005 and expiring on 31 December 2009.

Furthermore, the Court deemed that the original filing of the applications with the Higher Regional Court in Cologne was sufficient to prevent the one month time limit under 1040 (3) ZPO, based on article 16 (3) MAL, from expiring.

The Council also elected Sweden for a term beginning at the first meeting of the Commission's thirty ninth session, in 2005, and expiring at the close of the same session, in 2006, to replace Norway, which had resigned its seat.

e In accordance with Council resolution 1997 63, the Council will elect the new members for a three year term beginning at the organizational meeting, in 2006, of the Commission's fifteenth session and expiring at the close of the Commission's seventeenth session in 2009.

At its 9th plenary meeting, on 9 June 2005, the Economic and Social Council elected Sweden to the Programme Coordination Board for a term beginning on the date of election and expiring on 31 December 2006, to replace Switzerland, which had resigned its seat on the Board.

To fill the vacancy arising from her resignation, the Economic and Social Council, on 27 April 2005, at its resumed organizational session, elected Ms. Arundhati Ghose (India) for a term beginning on the date of election and expiring on 31 December 2006 (Council decision 2005 201 C).

Having completed the required consultations, the President of the General Assembly has the honour to submit to the Assembly the following candidates for appointment as members of the Joint Inspection Unit for a five year term beginning on 1 January 2006 and expiring on 31 December 2010

On 18 April, the Council unanimously adopted resolution 1596, by which the Secretary General was requested to re establish, for a period expiring on 31 July 2005, the Group of Experts referred to in paragraph 10 of resolution 1533 (2004), with the addition of a fifth expert for financial issues.

At its resumed fifty ninth session, in February 2005, the General Assembly, together with the Security Council, elected Mr. Ronny Abraham (France) a member of the Court for a term of office expiring on 5 February 2009 to fill a vacancy resulting from the resignation of Mr. Gilbert Guillaume (France) (decision 59 415).

As for the period of validity of a firearm licence, articles 6 (a) and (b) of the Firearms and Ammunition Regulation provide that a licence to carry or manufacture firearms is valid for one year, expiring on the thirty first day of December in the year in which it is issued and renewable annually.

If there was no objection, he would take it that the Committee wished to recommend that the General Assembly should appoint Mr. Henrique da Silveira Sardinha Pinto as a member of the Committee on Contributions, for a term beginning on the date of his appointment by the General Assembly and expiring on 31 December 2005.

The Council elected the following 13 Member States for a four year term beginning at the initial meeting, in 2006, of the Commission's fifty first session and expiring at the close of the Commission's fifty fourth session, in 2010 Brazil, Cameroon, Djibouti, Ecuador, Indonesia, Iran (Islamic Republic of), Lesotho, Malaysia, Mexico, Republic of Korea, Togo, United Arab Emirates, Zambia.

By paragraph 10 of resolution 1533 (2004), the Council requested the Secretary General, in consultation with the Committee, to create for a period expiring on 28 July 2004 a group of experts, consisting of no more than four members, to undertake a series of tasks related to the monitoring of the arms embargo, as set out in the resolution.

The President (spoke in French) As indicated in document A 59 108 Add.1, as a result of the resignation of Mr. Christopher Thomas (Trinidad and Tobago), the General Assembly is required, during the fifty ninth session, to appoint a member to fill the vacancy in the Joint Inspection Unit for a period expiring on 31 December 2008.

As indicated in document A 59 102 Add.2 of 26 May 2005, the General Assembly will be required to appoint, at its current session, a person to fill a vacant seat on the Committee on Contributions for a term of office beginning on the date of appointment by the General Assembly and expiring on 31 December 2005.

In paragraph 4 of that resolution, the Council requested me, in consultation with the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1533 (2004) concerning the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to re establish the Group of Experts for a period expiring on 31 January 2006, drawing, as appropriate, on the expertise of the members of the Group of Experts established pursuant to resolution 1596 (2005).

The Council elected the following 16 Member States for a three year term beginning at the organizational meeting, in 2006, of the Commission's fifteenth session and expiring at the close of the Commission's seventeenth session in 2009 Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Chile, Czech Republic, Djibouti, Indonesia, Kuwait, Peru, Republic of Korea, Russian Federation, Senegal, Spain, Sudan, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, United Republic of Tanzania, United States of America.

After holding the appropriate consultations described in article 3, paragraph 2, of the statute of the Joint Inspection Unit, including consultations with the President of the Economic and Social Council and with the Secretary General in his capacity as Chairman of the United Nations System Chief Executives Board for Coordination, I will propose a qualified candidate to the Assembly for appointment to the Joint Inspection Unit for a period expiring on 31 December 2008.

In paragraph 21 of the resolution, the Council requested me to re establish, in consultation with the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1533 (2004) concerning the Democratic Republic of the Congo, for a period expiring 31 July 2005, the Group of Experts referred to in paragraph 10 of resolution 1533, with the addition of a fifth expert having the necessary skills to perform the mandate, as set out in the same paragraph.
