This project will provide tools to analyse the asset allocation process.

Asset allocation normally requires the use of an asset and liability model effectively, multiple actuarial valuations into the future over a variety of time horizons and economic scenarios which explore the impact of following different asset allocation strategies in terms of expected returns and risk.

Investment strategy is simply the long term allocation of monies among the various asset types and investment markets.

Asset and liability management is the process of controlling the relationship of assets to liabilities that is, managing the spread between them.

At the same time, adjustments to the planning process now require field offices to provide comprehensive needs assessments as part of moves to streamline and modernize the resource allocation process.

There are two aspects to the issue regularizing the process of the allocation of extrabudgetary funds and allowing subregional offices to raise them.

While the G 20 leaders have decided to support an SDR allocation of 250 billion, this will increase the share of SDRs in total international reserves to no more than 4 . In order to make the SDR the principal reserve asset via the allocation route, close to 3 trillion in SDRs would need to be created, an unrealistic proposition.
