The decrease in common staff costs is also partly due to the realized costs, which are lower than the budgeted rate.

The net decrease of 149,000 reflects a decrease of 1,595,200 under operational costs, which is largely offset by an increase of 1,446,200 under civilian personnel.

Once systems are fully operational, costs are expected to decrease to levels required for maintenance.

The net decrease under this heading relates to reduced requirement for common staff costs ( 3,572,400) partly offset by increase for salary costs ( 2,257,200).

In the budget estimates, this is reflected in a decrease in temporary assistance costs for this activity and an increase in contractors costs.

11. The Advisory Committee notes that, as indicated in the resource projections provided to the Committee (annex I to this report), over the period 1995 1999, the projected decrease in administrative support costs is significantly less than the projected decrease of operational costs.

With regard to the expenditure there is expected to be a decrease of 1,545,500 in programme and programme support costs from the initial estimates, which is mainly due to the decrease in post adjustment in staff salaries in Nairobi.

That would save hundreds of millions of dollars in legal costs in the United States and would decrease the cost of medicine for everyone.

At the field level, as a result of a fairer sharing of costs between the drug and the crime programmes, there is a net volume decrease.
