How Scary Is the Bond Market?

Bond lending involves diversified groups of bond holders, including domestic residents, and can be issued under different jurisdictions.

In the bond market, since June, due to the influence of multiple factors such as fundamentals and investor sentiment, the bond market has taken on a trend of improvement.

Greater economic openness, coupled with the fixed nominal exchange rate, ended China s inflationary roller coaster ride, and, after 1994, real GDP growth also became more stable. The government is now seeking to decontrol domestic interest rates, create a more robust domestic bond market, and finally remove capital controls.

In addition to providing more stability, bond markets are expected to stimulate domestic savings and investment.

And this isn't even the domestic car market this is the taxi market.

Moreover, including a smaller number of Member States in the set aside mechanism would facilitate consideration of any United Nations bond offering by market participants and would probably prove easier and less costly for the bond trustee to administer.

And we feel that over the next five years, if Ethiopia can capture even 40 percent, just 40 percent, of the domestic market, and add just 25 percent value to that market, the value of the market doubles.

Market access and both public and private external funding are also needed to complement efforts at the domestic level.
