23. Documentation services included the management of the specialized library and the provision of other services, facilitated by the UNICRI Library Management System bibliographic database.

Library services provision of library services through the maintenance and development of the specialized reference collection and bibliographic database on the law of the sea and ocean affairs.

16. In the area of library and publication services, the following developments should be acknowledged.

In addition to offering library information services at Headquarters, the Dag Hammarskjöld Library maintains a network of 355 United Nations Depository Libraries in 142 Member States and territories.

(g) Library services provision of library services and information to staff, member States, United Nations libraries and depository libraries and other clients, including the acquisition of publications, databases indexing of ESCWA documents on the Official Documents System to make them available to Internet users and developing library Internet and Intranet web pages.

Through the use of Web based tools some library services are provided on a 24 hour basis.

VII.10 As shown in table VII.2, five posts are to be redeployed from subprogramme 3, Library services, to strengthen subprogramme 4, Outreach services.

67. The Library has also been active in the expansion of its services via the United Nations Intranet. Its Intranet home page acts as a gateway to its training services and to other information services available through on line subscription. Also, the Library has posted Cyberlinks, a collection of links to regional and country Internet information resources and news services.

Entrances to the library buildings and premises, stairs, doors have not been made in a way that a person in a wheelchair could enter the library without assistance and could use its services.

His delegation supported what had been said about the need to improve the services of the Dag Hammarskjöld Library.

The Kigali library, where a librarian has also been recruited recently, should have comparable services in the near future.
