Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems are software packages composed of several modules, such as human resources, sales, finance and production, providing cross organization integration of data through embedded business processes.

At the same time, adjustments to the planning process now require field offices to provide comprehensive needs assessments as part of moves to streamline and modernize the resource allocation process.

While these instruments have been effective as planning devices, establishing links between resource benchmarks and targets on a multi year basis, and thus both relating resource requirements with their uses and expected results and enhancing accountability, they have not yet served to assure a sufficient critical mass of core contributions.

UNDP intends to leverage its investment in corporate initiatives such as its Enterprise Resource Planning (Atlas system) to progressively link financial resources to defined outcomes for results based reporting within the RBM framework.

For industry, this means ensuring that as the industrial base of the developing countries grows, the consumption of natural resources by industry remains contained through (a) greater resource efficiency by individual enterprises and (b) the implementation of circular material and energy flows through entire production chains (known collectively as sustainable industrial resource management SIRM).

We concur that the General Assembly should endorse the development of a common payroll system as a first step towards a common Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) for the United Nations system as a whole.

Security of radioactive material other than nuclear material

In November 2003 an IAEA mission specializing in the illicit trafficking of radioactive material came to Uruguay to evaluate the technical and human resource capacity of various Uruguayan national agencies, such as the Customs Office, the Fire Department, the Naval Prefecture, and their capacity to detect radioactive and nuclear material at the country's various border crossings.

The memorandum of understanding was adopted before the implementation of the Enterprise Resource Planning software it was not amended and did not deal with the amounts advanced from UNHCR to UNDP for payments in the field.

The Committee notes that on 1 January 2004, wave I of the Enterprise Resource Planning system (Atlas) was launched additional functionalities are targeted for completion in 2007, as indicated in paragraph 55 of the budget document.
