(j) In 1983, UNCTAD and IMO signed a Memorandum of Understanding setting out areas of cooperation.

Strategically, the programme will establish a link between the subregional drug control cooperation programmes in central Asia (memorandum of understanding signed in May 1996) and south west Asia (memorandum of understanding signed in April 1994), as well as cooperation in drug control matters with the Economic Cooperation Organization (memorandum of understanding signed in March 1995) and country level programmes in Afghanistan and Turkey.

A memorandum of understanding to outline the framework for such cooperation was signed in June 1997.

Those States had signed a memorandum of understanding following continued efforts by UNDCP to foster regional cooperation.

Both parties agreed, inter alia, to upgrade the current memorandum of intent so that it can become a more practical memorandum of understanding on technical cooperation in the field of human rights.

In August 1995, UNDCP signed a memorandum of understanding with the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).

To continue to bolster subregional cooperation in south west Asia, UNDCP signed a memorandum of understanding in August 1995 with the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).

In May 1995, Viet Nam joined the UNDCP south east Asian subregional arrangement by signing the memorandum of understanding governing cooperation between States in that subregion.
