The Jordanian Water Authority renovated the water supply network at Jabal el Hussein camp and was in the process of constructing a sewerage system in Souf camp, due to be completed by the end of 1997, which would bring the number of camps in Jordan connected to main municipal regional sewerage networks to 7, out of 10.

In 1991 the proportion connected to a sewerage system was 56 per cent, and the aim was to achieve a rate of 62 per cent in 1996.

A feasibility study and detailed technical design for construction of a new sewerage and drainage system in Neirab camp were completed, and works were expected to start soon after mid 1997.
