Consistent with our support for the promotion of fundamental human freedoms and values, we support the establishment of a Human Rights Council.

The international community should complement our efforts by providing structured technical support and effectively deployed financial support and access to the global market.

In the early phase of that national recovery, our people and our nation received generous support and assistance from the international community.

Our assessments enabled our headquarters in Geneva to issue the first preliminary appeal for support just eight hours after the disaster struck.

We very much hope to see other donors follow our lead and to see our partner countries, with our support, make a serious effort to reinforce good governance.

More generally, the draft resolution gives us an opportunity to express our satisfaction to UNIDIR and to reaffirm our confidence in it and assure it of our support.

We therefore propose that the United Nations support our Government in the following manner.
