Today I commit Ireland to reaching the United Nations target of 0.7 per cent. This will be achieved by 2012, three years earlier than the agreed European Union target date of 2015.

In that regard, we would like to join others in welcoming the recent decision of the European Union to set a target date of 2015 for reaching the 0.7 per cent threshold.
