The key principles of NEPAD remain African ownership in the promotion of socio economic development, the advancement of democracy, promotion of human rights and good governance.

(a) Promotion of the advancement and dissemination of knowledge of basic space science and its application to human welfare

Implementation of the national policy for the advancement of women is managed by a national directorate supported by three divisions responsible, respectively, for economic advancement, training and education, and the promotion of women's rights.

Women's Health promotion should be recognized as a core strategy for the advancement and empowerment of women and girls in the 21st century.

Its second National Policy for the Promotion of Gender Equality served as an umbrella document for the promotion of women's rights and the fundamental Government strategy for the advancement of gender equality.

IFAP and 11 of its member organizations provided an input into this report through the Committee for the Promotion and Advancement of Cooperatives (COPAC)

The electronic version of the guidelines was posted on the Committee for the Promotion and Advancement of Cooperatives Web site in January 1998.

Its goal is to monitor the implementation of the National Programme for the Advancement of Women and to encourage activities for the promotion of women.

The Committee expresses its satisfaction that the national machinery provides a strong framework for the promotion of gender equality and the advancement of women, essential in minimizing the structural adjustment experienced during the transition.

Where required, the Office of Human Resources Management, in consultation with the Office of the Special Adviser on Gender Issues and Advancement of Women, will establish occupational targets for the recruitment, placement and promotion of women.

We have no doubt that the progress and advancement of women will translate into nothing less than progress and advancement for all.
