Automation, Productivity, and Growth

Now a lot of robotics is very impressive, but manipulation robotics is really just in the dark ages.

In the years ahead, technological improvements in robotics and automation will boost productivity and efficiency, implying significant economic gains for companies. But, unless the proper policies to nurture job growth are put in place, it remains uncertain whether demand for labor will continue to grow as technology marches forward.

And this is like robotics without wires or motors.

And now this is the early era of wearable robotics.

But let me show you cutting edge robotics.

And many, many other robotics projects I want to talk about.

Robotics systems are just incredible these days, absolutely incredible.

And we will be bringing robotics of all sorts into the ocean.

Objective 1 support system and business activities requiring technology and automation.

So we're really entering the era of wearable robotics actually.

I'm at Carnegie Mellon we've got a great Robotics Institute there.

And then I started Hanson Robotics, which has been developing these things for mass manufacturing.

At our lab RoMeLa, the Robotics and Mechanisms Laboratory, we have these fantastic brainstorming sessions.

There is no generalization at all from one task to another in robotics.

In this fragile global environment, has America become a beacon of hope? The US is experiencing several positive economic trends housing is recovering shale gas and oil will reduce energy costs and boost competitiveness job creation is improving rising labor costs in Asia and the advent of robotics and automation are underpinning a manufacturing resurgence and aggressive quantitative easing is helping both the real economy and financial markets.

If you want to go beyond a tinkering, if you want to go beyond a hobby of robotics and really tackle the grand challenges of robotics through rigorous research we need more than that. This is where school comes in.

Honeybee Robotics designed the Mars Driller, and it was really very much fun to work with them.

Can we really scale this up? Can we really embed robotics into every part?

But the robotics part is the hardest part. That's the old brain. That's really hard.

Related systems enhancements will be undertaken to support the automation of such information.

It was currently exploring ways of streamlining that process, including its possible automation.

These are just the awards that we won in 2007 fall from robotics competitions and those kinds of things.

It also conducts space robotics experiments by using the robot arm installed on the chaser satellite.

So this is the end of a Ph.D. project from one of the best robotics institutes.

So I wish that I could tell you what the future of personal robotics looks like.
