Mauritius deposited its instrument of accession to the Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against the Safety of Maritime Navigation in August 2004.

My delegation is fully aware that the safety of navigation in such straits is a key and vital element in promoting foreign trade.

In that connection, Indonesia, together with Malaysia and Singapore, has intensified its cooperation through the Tripartite Technical Expert Group on the safety of navigation.

There were also joint efforts to ensure the sustainable management of the resources of Lake Victoria, improve navigation safety and reduce the high cost of transportation.

Furthermore, to bring Mexican criminal legislation into line with the Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against the Safety of Civil Aviation and the Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against the Safety of Maritime Navigation, the initiative establishes the offence of disseminating information known to be false, if doing so is likely to endanger the safe navigation of a ship or aircraft (Federal Penal Code, art.

The report also highlights many recent developments relating to the safety of navigation, the welfare of seafarers and the protection of the marine environment, as well as capacity building activities.

Finland also aims to sign and ratify the Amendments to the Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts (SUA) Against the Safety of Maritime Navigation, 1988 and its related Protocol.

As a result, the international community should respect the primary responsibility and sovereign right of littoral States in their efforts to ensure the safety of navigation and maritime security in the area.

My country attaches great interest to several issues addressed in the draft resolutions under our consideration, including the safety of navigation, maritime transportation and the protection and sustainable use of marine biodiversity.

On the issue of security and safety at sea, the European Union would like to highlight the adoption, on 14 October 2005, of the two protocols amending the Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against the Safety of Maritime Navigation and the Protocol for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against the Safety of Fixed Platforms Located on the Continental Shelf.

Recognizing the importance of enhancing the safety of navigation, the need to provide accurate and up to date charts of world oceans in order to promote maritime safety, and the need to build hydrographic capacity, in particular for those States that do not yet have adequate hydrographic services,

Treaties of friendship, commerce and navigation

This is also the official scheduling of ship lift and navigation lock after the two year navigation test of ship lift.

Chile is participating in the negotiations being conducted under the auspices of the International Maritime Organization with a view to amending the 1988 Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against the Safety of Maritime Navigation.

The Royal Government is studying the three remaining counter terrorism conventions i.e. Convention on the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against the Safety of Maritime Navigation, Protocol for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against the Safety of Fixed Platforms Located on the Continental Shelf and the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material.

In the context of strengthening the safety of navigation and maritime security in the area, we further commend the assistance of the IMO in facilitating the Marine Electronic Highway project for the Straits of Malacca and Singapore.

35. Urges States to become parties to the Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against the Safety of Maritime Navigation and its Protocol,International Maritime Organization publication, Sales No. 462.88.12E. and to ensure its effective implementation

The initiative discussed above is part of these efforts to update legislation, especially with regard to the International Convention for the Suppression of Terrorist Bombings, the Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against the Safety of Civil Aviation, the Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against the Safety of Maritime Navigation and Security Council resolution 1373 (2001).
