Session One The new space age weapons, developments and challenges to space security

So what are we to do about this space age material, at least what we used to call a space aged material, these plastics?

Fifty years on from Watson's accidental encounter with the Sun, Jansky's careful listening ushered in a new age of space exploration the radio astronomy age.

The space age began 50 years ago in October, and that s exactly what Sputnik looked like.

The space age began with the launching of small scientific satellites in 1958, the International Geophysical Year. Those satellites were small because of the limited capacity of the first space launchers.

Technology has come of age that's allowing us to see the Earth from space and go deep into the seas remotely.

That year will mark the fiftieth commemoration of the beginning of the Space Age with the launching of the first artificial satellite, Sputnik 1.

Already, women aged 45 49 mostly uses female sterilization, a clear indication that women of this age prefer to stop rather than space their fertility.

And it wouldn t be fun to talk about the space age without seeing a flag that was carried to the moon and back, on Apollo 11.

We can prevent millions from dying from malnutrition simply by distributing vitamin supplements. These are not space age technologies, but staple goods that the world needs.

One of the most intriguing features about Mars, the National Academy of Science says one of the 10 major mysteries of the space age, is why certain areas of Mars are so highly magnetized.
