The Board convened its thirty sixth and thirty seventh executive sessions in May and July 2005 and its twenty second special session in July 2005.

At its thirty seventh session, the General Assembly decided to include the present item in the provisional agenda of its thirty eighth session (resolution 37 118).

The International Tropical Timber Council, the governing body of ITTO, held its thirty sixth and thirty seventh sessions in 2004, both attended by the Forum secretariat.

The session was opened by the Chairman of the thirty seventh session, Mr. Alfredo Chuquihuara (Peru).
