Wholesale retail trade and repair of motor cars, motorcycles and personal and household effects

The services segment of the economy, apart from government services, comprises mostly trade, both wholesale and retail.

It was agreed that the scope of distributive trade statistics should include wholesale trade, retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles.

Distribution services are dominated by wholesale and retail services.

Wholesale prices followed trends similar to those of retail prices.

However, issues relevant to wholesale and retail trade were considered in the context of the Commission's work on service statistics and economic classifications.

The second important group was manufacturing (14.5 ), followed by construction (12.5 ), community, social and personal services (11.2 ), transport, storage and communication (9.4 ) and wholesale retail trade (8.6 ).

Business can encounter significant barriers when striving to invest in foreign distribution (retail or wholesale) markets.

45. Despite the good harvests this year, both wholesale and retail prices are still very high.

For female workers who suffered occupational injuries diseases, again agriculture dominated with 71.2 followed by the manufacturing 14.7 , community, social and personal services (9.1 ) and wholesale retail trade (3.1 ).

The manual provided some guidance on the compilation of data for the wholesale, retail and service trades.

Notably, retail services would in part cover wholesale and commission agents' services under CPC 6111 and 6113.

On the other hand, other important sectors, such as manufacturing, construction, the wholesale and retail trade and community, social and personal services, show increasing trends in their share of employment.

With technology based development, the percentage share of employment in the agriculture sector declines and the shares in the manufacturing, construction, the wholesale and retail trade, etc., show increasing trends.

Retail trade and repair services

Retail trade and wholesale began to operate in the regulatory environment a number of essential laws did not exist, and those that did were not adequate for the new market conditions.

Wholesale has been internationalized to a greater extent than retail trade, mostly through investments made by producers in their own distribution networks, for example in respect of home appliances and automobiles.

In 1994, there were 2,188 registered businesses in the Territory, a drop of 3.8 per cent from 1993, of which retail trade accounted for 874, wholesale trade for 281, service establishments for 480 and transportation for 356 businesses.

Pakistan, where distribution (both wholesale and retail) is the single largest complement of the services sector, is an interesting example.

61. Similarly the share in employment of the wholesale and retail trade increased from 9.4 per cent in 1971 to 12.2 per cent in 1994 and to 13.2 per cent in the first half of 1995.

However, with a growth rate significantly higher than for total retail trade, the share of e commerce in total retail trade is also growing.

In total, stock of Asian investment in the retail trade in the United States in 2002 stood at US 3 billion in retail trade.

By April 2004 all trade related restrictions had been removed by and large, with the adoption of a new law that specified how foreign firms might conduct business in the retail, wholesale, franchise and commission agency sectors.

Retail and wholesale prices of cocaine, in contrast, declined fairly steadily in a similar manner to those of heroin, as shown in figure 9.

92. The manufacturing sector, with the 20 wages boards is the industry division with the largest number, while the agriculture, wholesale and retail trade, restaurants and hotels, and community, social and personal services sectors account for 15 wages board.

The contribution of distribution services (comprising wholesale, retail, hotels and restaurants) to GDP ranged from 12 to 16 per cent over the period 1995 2004.

In many developing countries, wholesale sales are considerably smaller in value terms than retail sales, while in most developed countries they tend to be equal.

Wholesale receipts had the largest gain at 44.5 per cent, followed by retail sales at 10.1 per cent and services at 8.2 per cent.14

Only as a second step is foreign investment then allowed to enter wholesale trade.

More than two thirds of the businesses are engaged in trade and 57 of these in the retail trade.

The GATS proposals on energy services classification capture services such as wholesale trade services, retailing services and storage services they refer to sales of fuels and wholesale brokerage (CPC 62113) wholesale trade services of solid, liquid and gaseous fuels and related products (CPC 62271) and retailing services of fuel oil, bottled gas, coal, and woods (CPC 63297).
